| The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Thursday, November 17, 2016, page 7a Mr. John Walter Tuttle died from lung cancer in his home on Monday, Nov. 7, 2016, in Chino Valley, Arizona at the age of 73. John is survived by his wife, Maria Tuttle, his six children, Cindy Rollins, Jeannie Tuttle, Johnny Tuttle, Juana Silva, Adriana Silva and Victor Silva as well as his seven grandchildren, Emi, Gavin, Eli, Francisco, Tony, Anthony, Yereltzy and Andreaz. John was born on June 16, 1943, in Painsville, Ohio, and grew up on a dairy farm in Thompson, Ohio. He was an adventurous youth who enjoyed reading books, riding horses and participating in 4-H. During high school, John played football, basketball and track, and was a drummer in the marching band. His fondness for the ‘wild west’ led him to Phoenix, Arizona, in 1963 where he attained his A.S. degree in engineering from Glendale Community College. John worked for fifty years in computer design and sales. He served in the army for two years and completed a tour in the Vietnam War. John was a hard working and passionate man who loved to travel and lived in numerous countries throughout his adult life. John moved to Chino Valley in 1995 where he resided until the time of his death. John was fluent in Spanish, enjoyed discussing history and politics, and was a distinguished chess player. However, John’s most notable qualities were his giving heart and kind spirit. He always had a smile on his face and a skip in his gait. John never hesitated to help a person in need without expecting anything in return. His involvement in his grand children’s lives produced his most precious moments. He always attended their games, recitals and award ceremonies. He enjoyed sharing history lessons, as well as stories from his travels, with his grandchildren. John was an involved and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed greatly. A memorial is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 18 at 4 p.m. at Ruffner-Wakelin Funeral Homes, Prescott Chapel at 303 S. Cortez St. in Prescott. A reception will follow at his daughter’s home in Chino Valley. All are welcome to attend and celebrate John’s life. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home.
