Henry F. Adams
Funeral services were conducted at 11:30 a.m. today in the Episcopal Church in Santa Barbara, Calif., for Henry F. Adams, a former Prescottonian who died in that city Monday.
Adams, the son of Amos D. and Kate Dunning Adams, was born in Prescott in 1889. His father came to Prescott in 1875 and founded the Clark and Adams Lumber Company, predecessor of the Prescott Lumber Co.
Adams attended Prescott High School with the class of 1903. While at PHS he was a star baseball player. After graduating from the Missouri School of Mines at Rolla, Mo., in 1912 with a degree in mining engineering he was variously employed in his profession in Clifton; Sudbury, Canada; and with the United Verde Extension in Jerome. From Jerome, he entered the military service and served as a first lieutenant of Engineers in France during WW I.
After discharge from the service he returned to Arizona to work for the Inspiration Copper Company, where he was employed as a metallurgist and concentrator superintendent until his retirement in 1955.
Adams was married in Prescott to Miss Verle U. Beaver, who was teaching in the local schools at that time. In addition to his widow, lives in Santa Barbara, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Alice A. Knipe, of Pasadena, Calif.; and a niece, Mrs. Harriet C. Webb, of Prescott.
