Prescott Evening Courier, Prescott, Arizona Territory Wednesday, January 5, 1921, page 1, column 2 Mrs. Adams Is Called Beyond Local Woman, Well Esteemed, Succumbs After Illness of Weeks The death of Mrs. Kate Adams of 103 S. Mt. Vernon street at 5:45 this morning took from this community one of the best beloved and most exceptional women in Prescott. Born in Plattsburg, N.Y., September 23, 1846, she came to Prescott in June of 1880 as a school teacher. On July 6, 1881, she married Amos Adams and began an active home life which in the past forty years has won her the crown of success. Mrs. G. L. Gardner, who has been a close neighbor and intimate friend of Mrs. Adams for thirty years, in speaking of her life said that it fulfilled the requirements called for in Bessie A. Stanley's poem, 'Success !' 'He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much.; who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children; who has filled the niche and accomplished the task; who has left the world better than they found it, whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued sole; who has never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty, or failed to express it; whose life was an inspiration, whose memory, a benediction.' The world is richer for Mrs. Adams life. She was a deep thinker, a giver of counsel, thoughtful, aesthetic and bright. To many of her friends it may be truly said that her life has been and inspiration and her memory a benediction. She was kind, good and true and the acme of friendliness and neighborliness. Five children were born to her, three of whom survive her, including Mrs. George Colton of Grand Canyon; Miss Alice, a teacher in Mesa; and Henry, who is employed at the Inspiration mine. Arthur died at the age of 13 and a girl was lost in her infancy. The funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock at the family residence, 103 South Mount Vernon street.
