Adams, Good Man And Excellent Citizen, Is Called By The Grim Reaper A. D. Adams, for over 40 years a resident of Prescott, passed away yesterday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock, after an illness since April 3, when he suffered a stroke of apoplexy, which again recurred at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Careful and considerate in all dealings, his business life in this city since 1875 has been as clear as a crystal in his generous deeds, his genial nature, and his sincere honesty in all dealings and with everyone alike. Pioneers like Adams are hard for this community and State to lose. He was a useful citizen, a sturdy friend and a firm builder. Mr. Adams, arrived in Prescott on August 11, 1875, coming over the Santa Fe trail on horseback with a party of which the late Judge H. T. Andrews, P. A. Williams and E. P. Clark were members. The perilous journey was made through hostile country where the Navajo and Apache reigned supreme, but fate was kind, and they were unmolested. Two years later, the deceased and Mr. Clark established the lumber firm of Clark & Adams, which still endures in this day. He was born in Cedar Falls, Iowa, in 1848 and was in his 67th year. Surviving are his widow, his daughters, Mrs. George Colton, of El Tovar; Miss Alice D. Adams, of this city, and son, Henry F. Adams, of Canada.
