| The Prescott Courier, Prescott, Arizona Sunday, July 11, 1993, page. 2c, column 5 Harriette Webb, 85, died at a Prescott care center July 9, 1993. She was born Harriette Alice Colton on Jan. 27, 1908 in Flagstaff, Ariz. Her father's side of the family was from New Jersey. Her father, George, was involved in trading at the Verkamp store near the El Tovar Hotel on the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Mrs. Webb's maternal grandparents (the Henry Adams family) came to Prescott in 1864 by covered wagon. The journey is preserved in a family diary now on display at the Museum of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff. The Adam's branch of her family owned a lumber mill in the Groom Creek area and were partners in the Clark & Adams Lumber Co., on Cortez Street across from what is now Murpjy's Restaurant. Mrs. Webb's home on the corner of Gurley Street and Mt. Vernon Avenue burned down twice and was re-built with the help of neighbors. The pump organ from her living room is on display at Sharlot Hall Museum. In the 1920's, Harriette met and married Roxie Webb, who at that time, worked for Goodyear Tire Co. After traveling throughout Arizona and New Mexico, the settled in Prescott and purchased a Ford dealership in Prescott and operated it until 1960. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy, who lives in Fremont, Calif., and Roxie, who lives in Prescott. A private family service will be held Monday, July 19, at the family plot in the Mountain View Cemetery with Father Jack May officiating. Arrangements were made by Hampton Funeral Home.
