Mary Lou Garfield
January 24, 1929 - December 7, 2016

Mary Lou Garfield died on December 7, 2016 at the age of 87, twenty days after a fall and fractured hip.

She was born on January 24, 1929 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to George Edward Stone and Hazel Benton Struble-Stone. At age twelve, the family moved to Wickenburg, Arizona. On November 17, 1945 she married Emil Eugene Garfield of Wickenburg. Once Gene was home from serving in the Army, they built their home and raised their family. Mary Lou continued to live in that home until her fall.

She worked for Mountain Bell as a switchboard operator, for the Wickenburg Public Library, for Mt. Bell as a book keeper and then for Valley National Bank until her retirement. She also worked as an agricultural inspector aide for sixteen years.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gene, brother George Stone, niece Marlene Miller Hatch, sister Phyllis Stone Miller and uncle Phillip Stuble.

She is survived by a daughter, Lugene Garfield of Wickenburg, a son Lance Garfield and wife Carree of Kingman, AZ, granddaughters: Mallory Garfield Turner (Shawn) of Searcy, AR and Caitlin Garfield of Kingman, Az, Niece Kathi Miller Hatch of Safford, AZ, sister in law Agnes Stone of Prescott, Az, brother in law Ernest Garfield and wife Betty & family, sister in law Estella Garfield Koster (Chuck & family) cousins Mary Struble Walker, Helen Stuble Berck, Wayne Struble, and their families. She was loved by many nieces and nephews and their children.

Mary Lou was a skilled seamstress, gardener and read constantly, usually three books at a time. She had a sense of humor that made her a great storyteller. She was a wonderful, loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by us all, every minute of every day.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Wickenburg Funeral Home with a committal service following at the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery.
