Hunter Found Dead Kneeling By His Traps

'Death caused by heart failure.' was the verdict of a coroner's jury called by judge Gordon Clark to view the remains of N. Quill Sweeten, 50, a trapper, whom Claude Aiken found dead at one of his traps, about five miles west of Del Rio, Tuesday afternoon.

Notified by Aiken, the Coroner and a sheriff's deputy went to the scene and found the body near Burton's water hole. Letters in the possession of the deceased indicate that he was a brother-in-law of Aubrey Gist of Skull Valley. Seventy-five dollars in cash was on the person of the deceased. His death occurred about 300 yards from the tent in which he had his headquarters.

Death Springs Trap On Old Fur Hunter At Lonely Del Rio Camp

Death set its own trap for Quin Sweeten, 50 year-old hunter, whose body was found early yesterday five miles west of Del Rio by Claude Aiken.

A coroner's jury, called by Gordon Clark at the scene shortly before noon, brought in a verdict that Sweeten had died of heart failure several days ago as he bent over a trap he was baiting near Burton's water hole.

Aiken went to Sweeten's camp yesterday morning to get the older man to do some work for him. Not finding him at camp, Aiken hunted around a bit and found the body lying where it had fallen when the sherif's office, and Coroner Clark and Deputy Sheriff Poulson went to check on him.
