Free Driver In Death Accident
Frank Boyen and Chester Whisman were absolved from blame by Judge Gordon Clark's coroner' jury this afternoon in connection with the automobile accident late Saturday night on the Lynx creek road in which a passenger in the car, Arthur Overturf, 21, was killed.
Overturf, the jury's verdict said, died of injuries received about head and body, caused by the over-turn of an automobile in which the deceased was riding.
Delmer Adams, one of those testifying before the jury this forenoon, had known Overturf practically all his life. They grew up together in Christopher, Illinois, where the father of the dead youth, Orley Overturf resides. There is a sister also, Mrs. Ruby Bradford of Pueblo, Colo., a nurse.
Adams and Overturf came to Prescott a year ago for a short stay and then went over to California, to return to Prescott last September. They have been employed on Grant Merrill's, Cold Springs ranch.
Boyen, the driver of the car, said he struck a gravel spot of the road, lost control of the car, and experienced the misfortune of having the vehicle turn over on him and his two companions, who had been out at the Lynx creek dance hall. Overturf apparently was killed instantly.
Jurymen were C. A. Amberg, C. E. Huntington, L. Frank Wilson, Charles E. Hartin, John Horn, and R. E. Morgan.
Transcriber's note: Mr. Overturf is buried in an unmarked grave at the Citizens Cemetery in Prescott, Arizona.
