Samuel Tucker, of Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, passed away December 16, 1998. Samuel was born in 1914, in Laguna, California, to Polish immigrants, Abraham Tucker and Jennie Rosenblum.

After graduating from Santa Ana Poly High in 1933, Samuel received an Associate of Art Pre-Engineering degree from Santa Ana Junior College in 1935. He then attended University of Arizona, where he played varsity quarterback on the football team and was elected president of both Z.B.T. and Theta Tau. He graduated with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree in 1938.

Sam served in World War II in the US Navy Civil Engineering Corp. Following World War II, he served in the US Army, US Army Reserve and the US Navy Reserve. Sam retired as a Lieutenant Col. in the US Army Reserves.

Sam's career in civil engineering spanned over 50 years. He was Phoenix Civil Engineer from 1957 to 1963, Flagstaff City Engineer and Public Works Director from 1969 to 1973, Mohave County Engineer from 1982 to 1984, Assistant to the County Engineer in Delano, Florida from 1982 to 1984 and Public Works Director & City Engineer of South Daytona Beach, Florida from 1984 to 1986.

Sam is survived by second wife, Aileen Tucker, son Richard Tucker, daughter Ceva Ann Ciruli, sisters Lillian Tucker and Angie Bogaty, brother Irv Tucker, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Sam, who was preceded in death by his first wife, Ceva Layton Tucker, will be laid to rest with her at Greenwood Memorial Lawn, in Phoenix on Sunday, January 10th at 3:00pm.
