| Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ >>> Published on Sunday, January 1, 2017 <<< Don Rafael Poggi, 89, of Lake Havasu City passed away Dec. 18, 2016. He was born to Roland and Donna Poggi on Jan. 1, 1927 in Glendale, Calif. Don proudly served his country by joining the United States Navy in 1944. He served on the USS Karnes and the USS Iowa as a radioman. Don enjoyed many things in life, but he had a passion for flying planes and helicopters, boating, collecting music, building various things, gold mining, designing and creating jewelry; and most of all, having fun with his family and friends. He was also a member of the EAA, Quiet Birdmen and the NRA. Don is preceded in death by his parents Roland and Donna Poggi, and his wife of 46 years, Betty Poggi. He is survived by his son, Bill Fulton of Scottsdale, daughter Anita Rheaume of Kingman and grandchildren Chris, Billy and Rachel. A service for Don is at noon on Jan. 6 at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Havasu.
