Raymond Eugene (Gene) Kish, Jr.

Raymond Eugene (Gene) Kish, Jr. was born to Raymond and Gladys
(Lambert) Kish, in Ashton, S.D., Sept. 11, 1922.

Gene graduated from Ashton High School. He worked in the Ashton and
Aberdeen area as a mechanic for several years. He joined the Army
during WWII. He served in the infantry, spending time in the
Philippines.

After his discharge from the Army, Gene married Phyllis Manz. They
moved to Valley City, N.D., where Gene held various jobs until his
employment at Valley City State University. He retired from VCSU as
maintenance manager. Gene and Phyllis were also co-owners of the Ace
Hardware store in Valley City for several years.

After the death of Phyllis, Gene married his former schoolmate,
Florence (Miller) Houseal. They had dated for a time in high school.
Flo was deceased in 2012. They maintained homes in Valley City and
Lake Havasu City, where Gene was wintering at the time of his death
from a heart attack.

Gene is remembered as a kind, devoted and gentle person who loved
his family, the Lord and his country. He was a member of Trinity
Lutheran Church of Valley City, and Lake Havasu Baptist Church. Gene
enjoyed his daily coffee outings with the guys, in Valley City and
Havasu. He was very active and alert until the time of his death.

He is survived and greatly loved and missed by his sister Marilyn
(Kish) Mason (Richard), stepdaughter Teresa Houseal, Lake Havasu,
stepson Larry Houseal (Donna), Rutland, Vt., daughter-in-law Patty
Houseal (Warren, deceased), sisters-in-law Lynda Beggs, Lancaster,
Calif., Darlys Kloss (Dayton), Hitchcock, S.D., and Carol Swenson
(Laverne), Mesa, several stepgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins
and special friend Merilyn Britt.

He is predeceased by his parents, sister Nancy Beardemphl and her
husband Richard, wives Phyllis and Florence, stepson Warren,
brother-in-law Rodney Manz and his wife Char.

Memorial services are pending.
