Delbert Walter Smith Jr., 89, passed away Jan. 3, 2017 at home in 
Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

Delbert was born Aug. 23, 1927 in Los Angeles, Calif. to Delbert 
Walter Sr. and Elsie Mae (Oswald) Smith.

Delbert served his country in the Navy, 1st Special CB Unit, and 
served in WWII.

He married Patricia May Smith Sept. 14, 1946 at St. Pats Church in 
Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A resident of Havasu for the past six and a half 
years, they lived in Cedar Rapids for 25 years prior moving to 
Havasu.

Del loved his family and loved to travel. Every day was a new day to 
try something new.

He is survived by his wife Patricia May, daughters Cynthia Smith 
Calkins, Sandra Smith Chavez, grandchildren Chandra Miller, Stacy 
Morrison, James Douglas II, Casey Chavez and Rhonda Fleming as well 
as six great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
