Warner Pehling Hein, 82, of Lake Havasu City, died Tuesday, Jan. 10,
2017 in Arizona.

Warner was born to the late Jürgen and Mildred Hein in Echo, Minn.,
Feb. 9, 1934.

Warner was a gifted IBM electrical engineer with an extensive career
that spanned much of the evolution of computing in America. He
worked in Washington D.C. during the Kennedy years and then
transferred to the Hudson Valley with IBM, moving to a farm in
Esopus to raise a family in a home he both designed and built by
hand. He was instrumental in helping with the implementation of the
tracking program for the NASA space program throughout Europe.

He shared his lifelong love of baseball with many as a Little League
coach for years. He was a brilliant man who could teach himself
almost anything. In his retirement, he became an avid woodworker.

He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Mary K. Peterson
and son Warner P. Hein Jr.

Warner is survived by his loving and caring wife, Eileen Smith Hein
of Lake Havasu City, sister Eunice Taylor (Rick) of Travis City,
Mich., daughter Nancy Ryan (John) of Minneapolis, Minn., son Michael
P. Hein (Christine) of Hurley, daughter-in-law Nina Hein of New
Paltz, stepchildren: Jodi Lynn (Robert) of Walden, Sharon Downes of
Wellington, Fla., and Mark Evans of Tuscaloosa, Ala., several
grandchildren Mickey Hein and Warner Paul Hein, great-grandchildren,
nieces and nephews.

Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
