| Prescott Evening Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, April 2, 1940, page 2, column 4 John O. Eckel Dies In City John O. Eckel, of Fair Oaks, a resident of this district for 34 years, passed away at his Prescott home this morning at 8:30 o'clock. Mr. Eckel came to Arizona in 1900 from Denver, Colorado. A carpenter prior to moving to Fair Oaks, he had been a fruit grower in the district since establishing his home here. He was born August 12, 1863, in Summit, New Jersey. Mr. Eckel was a missionary worker in Arizona during territorial days. He is survived by his wife, Mary M, eight children, Claude O. Eckel, Mrs. Edythe E. Moyer, Mrs. Grace G. Spidell, John G. Eckel, Emmett T., Paul O., Asa G, and Margaret Despain, 10 grandchildren, Ralph Williams; Martha Bell Spidell, Everett Spidell, Bruce and Robert Eckel, Marvin Despain, Vickie Joe Moyer, Rose Sharon Eckel, Paul Ralph Eckel, Clifford LeRoy Eckel, and a great granddaughter, Sharon Elizabeth Williams. Funeral arrangements, in charge of the Lester Ruffner Funeral Home, had not been completed today. ------------------------------------------------ Prescott Evening Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, April 3, page 6, column 4 Hold Rites For Eckel Thursday Funeral services will be conducted for John O. Eckel, pioneer Fair Oaks resident, who died yesterday, from the Lester Ruffner Funeral Home Thursday afternoon at 3:30. The Rev. S. Douglas Walters will officiate. Interment will be in IOOF Cemetery.
