| The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Sunday, January 8, 2017, page 6a Lt Col Oscar Judson Tibbets, USAF Ret. was promoted to glory at his home in Prescott, Arizona at the age of 96 on January 4, 2017 at 12:45 pm. Jud is survived by his wife, Nell Tibbets, four children, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Jud was born on January 7, 1920 in Alanreed, Texas to Oscar Lee Tibbets and Viola Goodnight Tibbets. He graduated from Alanreed High School and West Texas State College, before entering the Army Air Corps in 1941. He married Nina Nell Stagner on December 25, 1947 in Stamford, Texas. After a successful Air Force career, Jud transitioned to educating others in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he and Nell remained until they relocated to Arizona in 1994. A funeral is scheduled on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 1:00pm at Solid Rock Chapel, 114 S. Marina, Prescott, Arizona. There will a brief reception to follow. A graveside service with Military Honors at Heritage Memorial Park, 12010 E Heritage Memorial Lane, Dewey, Arizona at 3:00pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jud’s life.
