Jo Simon, (Grandma Jo), 90, of Lake Havasu City passed away Jan. 24,
2017 and is now rejoicing in the presence of our Lord and Savior.

She was born April 28, 1926 in Detroit to Arthur and Doris VonDolke.

On Dec. 1, 1949, she married Howard William Simon. He preceded her
in death on Nov. 27, 1986.

Jo’s education included nurses’ training. She was employed as a CNA
prior to starting her family. Jo raised three children in Maumee,
Ohio. Upon the death of her husband, she moved to Kokomo, Indiana,
residing 15 years near her youngest daughter and their family. She
then moved to sunny Havasu to be closer to her oldest daughter and
son-in-law.

She enjoyed reading, working puzzles, and coloring, counseling
people, volunteering in her church and community, and sharing her
faith with others. Her special love was spending time with her
children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Grandma Jo always looked forward to her summers in Kokomo where she
swam, played games, and spoiled her grandchildren. She enjoyed
attending Bible study at Crossroads Church every summer.

She is survived by her three children, Nancy (Paul) Stoway, Havasu,
John (Peggie) Simon, Toledo, Ohio, and Carol (Tom) Garber, Kokomo,
Ind., grandchildren Mark (Pam) Simon, Katie Simon, Brandon (Alicia)
Garber, Jerron (Kim) Garber, Ashlin (Matthew) Hadden, and Ryan
Kendall; 11 great-grandchildren, Chris, Alac, Aidan, Declan, Isla,
Jacob, Ethan, Brianna, Gavin, Coltin and Connor. In addition to her
husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Bruce
and granddaughter Andrea.

Jo was an active member of UMW, Tops, Kops, craft group, avid prayer
warrior, tutor with the Literacy Coalition, and a member of American
Legion Post #384.

Services are set for 1 p.m. Feb. 7 at St. Michaels United Methodist
Church in Lake Havasu City.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Michaels
