Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ >>> Published on Thursday, February 16, 2017 <<< Claudia Jo Bruns, 68, a resident of Lake Havasu City, passed away Feb. 11, 2017. Claudia was born May 11, 1948 in Bay Shore, New York. She married Albert J. “Sam” Burns, Jr. in 1968. During their 48 years together, they raised three children, Tim, Wendi and Daniel (deceased). In 1989, they welcomed Wendi MacKenzie as their adoptive daughter. Joining the Lake Havasu City community part-time in 1992, the couple became permanent residents in 2001. Claudia’s loves were traveling, entertaining and volunteer service. She was active with Lake Havasu Yacht Club, Burgee Girls, Red Hat Chili Peppers and spent countless hours volunteering at the local schools. She is survived by her husband Sam Bruns, children Tim Bruns, Wendi O’Donnell, Wendi MacKenzie, three brothers, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and nine nieces and nephews. Services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.
