Adela R. Salazar

Adela R. Salazar, 85, died Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Arizona Pioneer's Home. Born June 11, 1901, in Shafter, Texas, she was the daughter of Jesus and Estanislada Dominguez Ramos.

Mrs. Salazar moved to Arizona in 1924 from Tyrone, N.M., and lived in Miami and Jerome for a time while her husband worked in the mines. they moved to Walker and the Prescott area 58 years ago.

In the 1950's she worked as a cook at St. Joseph's Academy in Prescott. She moved to the Arizona Pioneer Home in 1978. She was a former member of the American Legion auxiliary and the Sacred Heart Alter Society and a member of the Sacred Heart Church.

She is survived by three sons, William and Johnny, both of Prescott and Pete of Phoenix, five daughters, Julia Martinez of Prescott, Mary Vega of Bagdad, Esther Sanchez of Tucson, Ercie Frias and Carol Marques, both of Superior; 25 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St., where a rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Church. Father Marcel Salinas will officiate.

Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
