| Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ >>> Published on Sunday, March 5, 2017 <<< Roger (Buck) C. Swierenga, 84, passed away Feb. 22, 2017 peacefully at his Bartlett, Illinois home with his wife, Charlene (nee Sassetti), at his side. Roger was the loving father of Debra (Frank) Massa, Donald (Jan) Swierenga, June (Lee) VanEssen, Janet (Bob) Orange and Roger; caring stepfather to Marty (Cindy) Corrigan, Colleen (the late Kevin) Clifford and Tricia (Matt) Quigley and fond grandfather of 22 and great-grandfather of 10. The only son of the late Fred and Anne Swierenga (nee Brouwer) he is survived by sister, Geraldine (the late Peter) Woldman. After graduating from Timothy Christian High School, he served in the U.S. Army for two years and was honorably discharged. He worked for BFI until his retirement. Roger then divided his time between Lake Havasu City and Bartlett playing golf, traveling and enjoying life with his friends and family. As per his wishes, a celebration of life for his family and friends is Saturday, March 11. Visitation is 9:30-noon and immediately followed by a memorial service at Countryside Funeral Home, 950 South Bartlett Road, Bartlett, Ill. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made Northwestern Medicine Hospice, 690 East North Avenue, Carol Stream, IL 60188. |
