She was born in St. Francis, Kansas to Helen and George Lampe and was the youngest of four children. Marie graduated high school in 1945. She continued her education at Denver University and then taught school in Shoshone, Wyoming for two years. She was offered a job in Richmond, Washington where she met and married Charles (Jack) Rees. They had two children, Gary and Gail. Marie taught elementary school in Richland and Bellevue, Washington for 25 years. She and Jack retired and moved to Lake Havasu City in 1980. They were very involved with the Kiwanis and Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. Marie was full of life and a joy to be around. She loved people and especially her family. She is survived by her husband Jack, son Gary (Aida), daughter Gail (Norm), granddaughters Ana (John), Brandy (Nathan) and grandson Jason. Marie also has five great-grandchildren. Marie will be greatly missed by her friends and family. A memorial service is 11 a.m. Saturday, May 6, at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
