DAVIS, John Lincoln

Prescott Evening Courier, Prescott, Arizona Friday, August 19, 1932, page 1. column 4 Yavapai Mining Man Dies Here One of Yavapai county's pioneer mining and smelter men, John Lincoln Davis, died in the 337 North Mount Vernon home of the family at 7:30 o'clock last night following a lingering illness. His residence in this county covered a span of a half century, seventeen of it at Williams and practically all the remainder at McCabe, southeast of Prescott. About four months ago he was brought to Prescott on account of his health. Mrs. Anna Davis, the widow, and four of the surviving children were in Prescott at the time of the death. It is unclear whether burial will take place in Prescott or in Williams where four of his children were born, although, it was here Mr. and Mrs. Davis were married September 23, 1885. He was born October 11, 1860, in West Point, Mass., and when twelve years old removed with his family to St. Louis. When twenty-one years' old - in 1881 - he came west, partly by railroad as far as he could go in those days by rail and the rest of the way by wagon team. Mr. Davis was affiliated with the Woodmen of the World and Masonic orders. Besides Mrs. Davis, the survivors are Mrs. Frank G. Brown of Prescott, Mrs. Leon C. Long of San Diego, Calif., Christopher Buggein Davis of San Francisco, who was unable to come here, John L. Davis, Jr., of Los Angeles, and Miss Helen Davis of Prescott. Transcriber's note: Mr. Davis is buried at the Mountain View Cemetery in Williams, Arizona.
