Helen Francis Niemann Testa passed away on April 23, 2017, in her home in Prescott, Arizona. She was born in Rancho Santa Fe in North San Diego County, California on Feb. 3, 1940. She was the daughter of a farming and ranching family where she loved and cared for animals of all kinds. She rode a horse with her father as a very young girl and learned the tricks of driving cattle and working the fields. She became an accomplished horse woman. She could rope a calf along side her father, cooked and canned fruits and vegetables along side her mother, as well as all the other chores needed on a ranch. Her transportation was her horse as they lived far out of town and her mother didn’t drive.

Helen married and started her family of three children. she is survived by her two children, Larraine Spears of Dewey, Ariz., and Louis Ronald Testa of Prescott, Ariz.; and five grand children. Daughter Larretta Ashcraft is deceased. Upon moving to Prescott she joined the Prescott Saddle Club to take advantage of learning all the trails and to meet friends. In the years she was a member she served the club in many ways. She was the president and on the board repeatedly. She enjoyed the miles of trails to ride on with great friends. She was always on hand to help out with the Savoini Cattle company roundups. Helen loved the ranch way of life, and the challenge to tackle and repair.

She was giving and kind, always willing to help when needed. Helen loved Prescott dearly and appreciated being a resident here for 30 years. Cremation has taken place. A donation to the Yavapai County Humane Society in Helen’s name would be most appreciated.
