| The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Monday, May 01, 2017, page 3a Lena Mary Roark, 95, passed away in her home April 23, 2017. She was born Natalena Maria Braito in Simmons, Arizona, January 15, 1922 to Teresa (Albini) and Filippo Braito, both of San Rocco di Premia, Italy. Lena grew up on several dairy ranches in Williamson Valley attending one-room schoolhouses. In 1939 she married Jim Roark and they settled in Prescott to raise their three children, Philip, Nancy and Jimbo. Lena and her husband enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and traveling in their camper. She loved working in her yard, chopping wood and assisting her husband fix cars in his garage. They lived in the same little house since 1942 providing stability to all of their families and friends. There was always a place to stay and food to eat at the Roark house. It was the place to gather for family news, coffee and conversation. Lena is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Roark; son, Jim (Jimbo) Donald Roark; sister, Silvia Dingman; and brother, Severo Braito. Lena is survived by her son Philip (Vickie) Roark; daughter Nancy Jones; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Information provided by survivors. |
