Fate Ordains, And The End Comes

The death yesterday of John Goggins, a young man of but twenty-two years of age, is a sad example of the struggles of those who battle with the white plague, against the inevitable.

In the case of this boy, he came here about five months ago, a stranger to all, but only for a short time. He was motherless and fatherless, but with a splendid personality, he won the affection of many.

A letter to Ed. Shumate, from an adopted aunt in Hannibal, Missouri, closed the gap of a stranger in a strange land, and the patient sufferer found solacing words and hopes of encouragement for his few remaining days on earth.

Goggins was a young man of exceptional character. He was an industrious employee of the Missouri Pacific railroad at Sedalia, his personality was pleasing and his habits were faultless. For these reasons he became endeared to many, and his passing away yesterday has caused expressions of deep regret that a future filled with so much promise has ended.

The remains are at Ruffner's and they will be taken home to rest beside those of his relatives.

Transcriber's note: No evidence has been found of him being removed to Missouri. If not, then he is buried in and unmarked grave at the Citizens Cemetery in Prescott, Arizona.
