| Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ >>> Published on Saturday, May 13, 2017 <<< Doug Wager passed away peacefully on April 23, 2017 with family members by his side. Doug was born May 8, 1951, the first of three children in Downey, California to Robert and Dorothy Wager. Doug graduated from Bellflower High School in 1969. He had a passion for racing and participated, at an early age, in the Bug Ins VW Drag Racing in Orange County, California. Doug was drafted and honorably discharged from the U.S. Army as a tank mechanic from 1971-1973. He ran a VW repair shop and continued racing in California until moving to Lake Havasu City in 1992, opening Tortoise Racing, VW Repair and Fabrication shop in Desert Hills. In 2004 Doug joined Team Bucknum Professional Sports Car Team of LHC. Doug was also a member of the LHC Civil Air Patrol for 20 years. Doug enjoyed boating, fishing and camping with friends. He retired in 2012, yet always enjoyed tinkering with fun jobs for neighbors and close friends. Doug was predeceased by his loving girlfriend of 33 years, Debra Zach and his father, Robert Carl Wager. He leaves behind his mother and stepfather; Dorothy and Charles Terry, of Lake Havasu City, brother and sister-in-law Ron and Laura Wager of Fallbrook, California and his brother Bob Wager of Lake Havasu City. Doug will be dearly missed by family friends. Rest in Peace Doug.
