Illness Drives Austrian To Suicide
(From Thursday's Daily)
Tried out by a seemingly hopeless search for health, John G. Petritz, an Austrian, one time head waiter, ended his life in his room in the Forrest Sanitarium some time yesterday afternoon. Suicide will probably be the verdict of the coroner's jury summoned last night by Coroner McLane, for among Petritz' papers was a seven page statement ending with the words, 'I am tired of being sick.'
Poison was probably the means used in this case - the third suicide in two weeks. There were no evidences of self-destruction found with the body last night accept the statement , and the medical authorities will be called upon today to determine what, if anything, was used.
Petritz was about 40 years of age. He came here about two months ago seeking a relief from a stomach trouble. Later, he went to Pasadena, but had been back a short when the end came.
He left a bank deposit slip for $55, with a note attached saying he owed for a weeks board, and that the balance was to pay his funeral expenses. Among his papers was a will, naming as beneficiary, a sister, Barbara Barabas of Tucson.
Transcriber's note: Mr. Petritz is buried in an unmarked grave at the Citizen's Cemetery in Prescott, Arizona.
