Bernard Roger Robles, known to family and friends as “Roger,” passed away on May 10, 2017, in El Centro, California.

Roger was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1944. He lived most of his life in Prescott, Arizona, growing up and attending Prescott public schools. Moving to California for a short time, Roger graduated from Covina High School in California.

Roger was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966 and served two years of active duty, including a tour of duty on the DMZ in Korea. After his military service Roger returned to Prescott at which time he worked at various jobs, one of which was a drummer for Rod Hart’s Country Western Band. He went on to get a job with the Arizona Department of Transportation, which required him to move to the Phoenix area.

Tiring of the big city hustle and bustle and probably the heat, Roger moved back to Prescott and obtained a job with Yavapai County Maintenance Department. He worked for Yavapai County until his retirement, at which time he was able to spend more time doing what he liked most: buying, collecting, and trading Native American arts and crafts.

Roger was preceded in death by his mother, Theresa Nalbach, and is survived by his wife, Jennie; her children and grandchildren; sisters Mary Salas (Larry) and Margaret Ybarra (Richard); brothers Arthur Espitia Jr. (Cheryl), Robert Espitia, Richard Espitia (Barbara), Steve Espitia (Carol); and numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, and nieces.

Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, inurnment at 11 a.m. at Prescott National Cemetery and celebration of life 12:30 to 2:30 at the Adult Center of Prescott, 1280 E. Rosser St., all to take place on Monday, June 19, 2017.

Thanks to Hems Brothers Mortuary of El Centro, California for their service and assistance.
