| Salt Lake Tribune, (Salt Lake City, Utah) Tuesday, June 7, 2016 Annie Mackay Patterson 1921~2016 Magna-Our dear and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Annie Mackay Revere Patterson (known as Rusty to her friends) went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 2, 2016. Annie Mackay was born in Danville, Virginia on September 25, 1921 to Floyd and Beula Wadman Revere. Educated in Virginia, Annie Mackay graduated from George Washington High School and Averett Junior College in Danville. She earned her B.S. degree in nursing from the College of William and Mary and received her R.N. from Stuart Circle Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. Her nursing career began in Charlotte, North Carolina and then took her to Orange, New Jersey. While living and working in Orange, she attended graduate school at Columbia University in New York City. She married James E. Patterson on April 3, 1948 and together they raised their two children, Ann and Jim. Prior to moving to Magna, Utah in 1961, they made their home in North Plainfield, New Jersey where Annie Mackay was active in Girl Scouting, served as president of the PTA at East End Elementary School, and taught Sunday school. She taught Sunday school for over 50 years in both New Jersey and Utah. At the age of 47, Annie Mackay embarked on second career as a librarian with the Salt Lake County Library System, a job she loved. She retired in 1983 after 15 years of survive. Upon retirement, she and her husband James wintered in Wickenburg, Arizona where she played golf with friends and enjoyed volunteering at the Desert Caballero Western Museum Gift Shop. A devout Christian, Annie Mackay was an active and devoted member of Westvale Presbyterian Church where she held various positions including Elder, Sunday school teacher, and office secretary. She was also a 50 year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter T in Magna, Utah. During that time, she served two terms as chapter president. An avid golfer, Annie Mackay was a past member of the Copper Gold Club and in her later years she joined the Fore Lakes Ladies Golf Association where she played until she was 92. She also volunteered at the Magna Senior Citizen Center for many years. Friends, Bible study, bird watching, gardening, weekly bridge club with friends, reading, along with many other activities kept her busy and happy. Above all, Annie Mackay loved spending time with her family. Annie Mackay joins those she loved: husband Jimmy and beloved son Jim, Jr., her parents, brother Floyd, and sister Margaret. She is survived by her daughter, Ann (Victor) Jensen, grandsons Victor Kirk Maritsas and Dain Jensen, and two precious great-grandchildren Apostolos and Evangelia. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Legacy House of Ogden for all the compassion, kindness, and loving care that she received.
