GILL, Joseph (Joe)

GILL, LTC (Ret.) Joseph "Joe" Thornton Jr., of Glen Allen, formerly of Phillipsburg, N.J., departed January 2, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne; parents, Joe and Marie Gill Sr.; brother, Glenn Gill of Wickenburg, Ariz. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; his children, Joseph Gill III (Greta), Julie Seymour (Jeff), Michael Gill (Outer Banks, N.C.), David Hood (Brenda) of Maryland and Richard Morarre of California; grandchildren, Sarah and Joey Gill, Mindy Schlager (Travis), Addison Morarre of Georgia, Kylie Morarre of California; great-grandchildren, Marlee and Mabree. Joe retired (Fort Lee) after a long career in the Army. During his years of service, he was proud of mentoring and training future officers. Many lifelong friends were made. Joe loved to fish. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 6, 2017, 2 to 4 p.m., at Bliley's-Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Ed. Graveside service 1 p.m. in Phillipsburg, N.J. on Monday, January 9, 2017.
