| Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ >>> Published on Sunday, July 16, 2017 <<< Daniel John Williams (Pops), 94, of Lake Havasu City passed away on April 10, 2017. He was born on May 8, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Daniel and Christine Guglielmo. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Army in 1943 and was honorably discharged as a second lieutenant infantry in 1953. Daniel met and married his lovely wife, Dorothy in Brooklyn, New York on July 3, 1947. In the time that they were together, they had two wonderful children, Bruce and Barbara. They spent 44 years in New York, where he helped out with his brother-in-law’s family business as a plumber. Daniel and his family then ventured West and moved to California. There, he was employed with McDonald Douglas Aircraft in Torrance. He helped maintain Howard Hughes’ wooden plane among other jobs within the company. He retired from McDonald Douglas Aircraft after25 years of employment. In 1991 that Daniel and Dorothy packed up and relocated to Lake Havasu City, Arizona to enjoy living the good life of retirement. Daniel enjoyed going fishing and visiting his grandson in Las Vegas, Nevada. For 25 years, every Thursday at 3 p.m., he and his wife would go to Shugrue’s and sit at the same table in the corner in the bar area and enjoy the company of friends and each other. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marie, and his beloved wife of 64 years, Dorothy “Goose” Williams. He is survived by son Bruce Williams, daughter Barbara Lopez, six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great- grandchildren. Daniel donated to different local organizations. The family is requesting that any donations be made in his name to the VFW, Western Arizona Humane Society or any local police charities. A memorial service is 1 p.m. Saturday, July 22, at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home. Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
