| Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ >>> Published on Friday, July 7, 2017 <<< Stanley Joseph Skiba (Skip), 87, passed away July 1, 2017 in Lake Havasu City. He was the son of Katherine Sibik Skiba, born March 3, 1930 in Hammond, Indiana. He grew up in Calumet City, Illinois. After 54 years, he moved with his family to Lake Havasu City. Stanley was proud to have served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He continued a life of service as a fireman and retired as a fire chief. Stanley enjoyed 33 years in Lake Havasu City. His favorite past times were spending time with his friends, bowling and drinking beer at the Havasu bowling alley. Stanley’s mother, Katherine Skiba, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Marie Skiba, brother Michael (Chesterine) and nieces and nephews. Stanley was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Church. He was also a member of the Professional Firefighters Association, the American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Stanley’s name to the Western Arizona Humane Society in Lake Havasu City.
