Despondent Over Illness, Suicides
Despondent over poor health, Peter Pope Christoff, aged about 40,
committed suicide by hanging in his cottage at Pine Lawn Sanatorium
some time Sunday.
The body was found and the authorities notified by Louis Strocher,
proprietor of the sanatorium, at 7:30 yesterday morning.
Christopher (sic Christoff), who was a resident of Waukegan,
Wisconsin, is little known here. He apparently left no writings.
It was with some care that he prepared for the end. He wound one of
the rafters with cloth and tied there a length of light window cord.
After he had adjusted a noose, and while standing on a chair, he
tied his wrists to his pajama strings by means of a necktie.
Transcriber's note: Mr. Christoff is buried in an unmarked grave at
the Citizens Cemetery in Prescott, Arizona.
