| Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ >>> Published on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 <<< Erwin Kunkel, 79, of Lake Havasu City passed away on July 27, 2017. Erwin was born in Ukraine, Russia on March 18, 1938 to Freda Kunkel. Erwin spent time living and working in Anchorage, Alaska. This is where he met his bride, Gisela. They moved to Arizona 17 years ago. Erwin was a retired construction inspector with the Corps of Engineers and was an Army veteran. Erwin held memberships with the Masonic Lodge, Blue Lodge, Al ASKA Shriners and the American Legion Post 0081. Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Gisela Kunkel; daughter Heidi Kunkel, of Roswell, New Mexico; brother Ewald (Jeannie) Wruck, of Chloride; nephews David (Eva) Wruck and Steven Wruck, of Caldwell, Idaho as well as sons-of- heart Joe Weatherly and Dewayne Harris of Anchorage, Alaska. A memorial service for Erwin is 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 3 at Lietz- Fraze Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Havasu’s Polidori House in Erwin’s honor. Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
