Marian “Rusty” F. Bratzler, 87, made her final journey on the
morning of July 19, 2017 at her Sunrise Senior Living residenced.

Rusty was born in Trenton, Missouri Feb. 18, 1930, the daughter of
Owen and Florence McVay.

She graduated high school at Trenton High in 1947. While in high
school she took voice lessons for four years and sang in the church
choir in Trenton and Kansas City, Missouri for 15 years.

Rusty attended colleges in Gulf Port, Mississippi and Columbia,
Missouri. While in college, she was lead singer for an all-girls
orchestra, singing mostly blues and jazz.

On June 4, 1964, Rusty married William “Bill” Bratzler in Brighton,
Colorado. Together they raised four children. Rusty announced at
Jackpot Rodeo for at least 13 years, where she once was a timer and
secretary for team-roping, barrel racing and calf-roping. As part of
the National Sr. Pro Rodeo Association, Rusty and Bill also traveled
around extensively competing in rodeos.

Rusty’s voice was her predominant feature, with the possible
exception of her bright blue eyes and her strawberry blonde hair.
Wherever she resided, she was also always an avid member of the
bowling and golf clubs. She was an Elks member for 40 years, amongst
being a member of many other groups, associations and organizations.
Rusty Bratzler lived her life to the fullest.

She will be deeply missed by her surviving family, including her
three children: Teresa, Kevin and Linda, four grandchildren Chad,
Jordan, Josh and Tara; five great-grandchildren and great-great-
grandchildren. Also many nephews, nieces, spouses of immediate
family and a host of wonderful friends.

Rusty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son
Jim, and her two brothers, Owen William McVay II and Robert “Bob”
McVay.

As Rusty has wished, cremation has taken place and a private family
memorial will be at a later date in Colorado. Those who wish may
make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
