A service to celebrate Rob's life will be held at a later date. Donations in his name may be made to Friends of the Colorado Talking Book Library, 180 Sheridan Blvd., Denver, CO 80226. Phone: 303-727-9277. Email: ctbl.info@cde.state.co.us

Rob was born on October 26, 1929, in Independence, Mo., to Roy Edward and Ardena Ruth Whitsett Lund. He died peacefully on January 6, 2016, surrounded by the love of family, in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

Rob's family moved to El Reno, Okla., in the early 1930's. His father died in 1937 and his family moved back to Independence. Rob graduated from William Chrisman High School, Independence, Mo., in 1947. He spent the next two summers working in Estes Park, Colo., at the Brinwood Lodge and later worked summers and winters at lodges and on ranches near Estes Park, Colo., Ft. Collins, Colo., and Wickenburg, Ariz. He attended William Jewell College and Kansas University, but dropped out to enlist in the U.S. Navy in the spring of 1950. He served two tours on the carriers USS Oriskany and USS Princeton during the Korean War, attaining the rank of 2nd class Petty Officer.

On May 23, 1954, Rob married Barbara Ellen Green. They had celebrated 61 years of marriage before Barb's death on December 10, 2015. Rob and Barb lived in San Francisco, Calif., Maryville, Mo., Joplin, Mo., Santa Fe, N.M., and Lawton, Okla., before settling in Enid, Okla., in 1969. There, Rob worked as an insurance adjuster and manager covering Northwest Oklahoma for General Adjustment Bureau. Rob then co-owned Pioneer Claims Service until his retirement in 1996. After retirement, Rob volunteered at Horn of Plenty and Meals on Wheels, Enid, Okla. He always loved watching his own and his friend's children and grandchildren play in sporting events.

Rob loved God, his country, his family, and golf (not necessarily in that order!)

He was active in Central Christian Church, Enid, Okla., and was a member of the Sooner Class and the Tuesday golf group. He was an enthusiastic and successful amateur golfer, who loved playing in and winning tournaments with his son and his friends. He enjoyed many vacations with his family in Colorado before he and Barb moved to Steamboat Springs, Colo., in 2014.

Rob is survived by his son, James Rob (Jim) Lund of Ardmore, Okla.; daughter, Molly Wilson and her husband, Von Wilson of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; grandchildren, Matthew Beaudin, Carly Beaudin and Wyatt Wilson; daughter, Amy Joss and her husband, Malcolm Joss, of Linlithgow, Scotland; grandchildren, Charlotte Joss and Max Joss; sister, Mary Linkhart of Boulder, Colo.; sister-in-law, Patty Lund of Liberty, Mo.; brother-in-law, Richard (Dick) Green and wife, Hope, of Independence, Mo.; brother-in-law, Daniel Green of Orange, Calif.; sister-in-law, Nancy Hedden of Independence, Mo.; sister-in-law, Margie Green of Columbus, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Barb; parents; stepfather, Loren Kidder; three brothers, John Lund, Dennis Lund and Kenneth Kidder; and two infant granddaughters, Laney Wilson and Polly Joss.
