Joel Beck, 70, beloved father, grandfather, friend and respected community member, passed away on February 20, 2017 in his Westside Colorado Springs home.

Joel was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 27, 1946 to Harold and Gertrude (Kroll) Beck. He lived in many different states growing up, primarily Wisconsin, until entering the Army in 1965. On May 28, 1966 he married Patricia Stachelski. In April 1972, they moved their young family to Colorado Springs.

Joel was very active in his community serving on the OWN Board, getting involved in local political issues and his passion for many years of being a blood donor. Joel had just achieved the 100 gallon mark for lifetime donations and was very proud of that accomplishment. He loved helping others.

He will be remembered for his political involvement, his work with the labor unions (45 year member of the IUOE #9) and the labor council, as well as his generous contributions of blood and time to the Penrose Blood Bank. Mostly he will be remembered as a friend to all...especially when hosting his annual Corn Roasts.

He is proceeded in death by his wife, his parents and 4 of his siblings. He is survived by his son Joel A. Beck, daughter Joyce L. (Patrick) Crawford, two grandchildren, Zachary A. Crawford and Samuel P. Crawford. He is also survived by his sister Joyce Linnerud of Wickenburg, Arizona and brother Jerome Beck of Salem, Wisconsin and many, many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family wishes any monetary donations be made to the American Heart Association or by contacting the Penrose Hospital Blood Bank for a blood donation in Joel's name.

Celebration of his life will be held Sunday, March 5, 2017. Graveside will begin at 2PM at Fairview Cemetery with the celebrations of his life beginning at 3:30PM, wake style, at the IBEW, 2150 Naegele Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80904.
