| Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ >>> Published on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 <<< Bette ( Mom, Grandma, Big Grandma, Aunt Bette) Ruth Crossman Britton, 81, stepped peacefully into glory Aug. 14, 2017 in Lake Havasu City. She spent her final days in her home surrounded by loved ones. She will be missed dearly. Bette was born Jan. 11, 1936 to Lloyd and Naida Crossman in Taunton, Massachusetts where she lived until she was 37 years old. She then lived in California, Florida and spent her final 12 years in Lake Havasu City. Bette loved family and friends. She worked hard all her life in lots of different occupations including nursing, self-employed, and team trucking across the U.S. with her husband. She loved traveling to many places, talking with people, camping with her children and grandchildren, and watching her children and grandchildren sing. Her favorite thing in life by far was dancing. She is now dancing with her husband once again. Dance on Bette and Bob, together again. “Absent from the body -- present with the Lord.” “Great is His faithfulness.” Bette is survived by her sister Joyce Jones, children: Robert and Penny Britton, Joe and Marlene Gallegos and Arlene Britton Smith. Also grandchildren Lyle, Westley, Brittney, Jalenie, Allen, Robert, Christopher, Jeremy, Kelly, Robert Jr., Amanda, Aunjelique, Christina, Joseph and Reba, great- grandchildren Kevin, Cash, Koi, Ellie, Beaulee, Haylee, Emmalee, Penelope, Jenna, Robert III, Riley, Kaley, Ian, Serenity, Brian, in-laws Maryanne, Paulette, Terry and Randy, along with many nieces and nephews and many friends. Bette is preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Naida Crossman, her husband of 53 years Robert A. Britton, her daughter Darlene Britton Reid Ellis, her son James Britton, and her brother Lloyd Crossman Jr. A celebration of life is set for Sept. 16 at the Lake Havasu City Elks Lodge.
