| The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Sunday, August 20, 2017, pages 6a/7a Shirley Ann Kutis, 79, passed away peacefully on Aug. 1, 2017. From her birth Jan. 3, 1938, in Moline, Illinois, to Melvin and Matilda Jay, she brightened the lives of everyone she met. Never one to miss the opportunity to say “hi” to a stranger, she made friends everywhere she went. Shirley loved horses and animals. From an early age, she would bring injured animals home and nurse them back to health. Once her children came along, Shirley quit her job at Mountain Bell to devote her life to them. From PTA to band trips, she was involved in her children’s school and extracurricular activities. After her children graduated and Joe retired, she shifted her activities to traveling and building their home in Chino Valley, where she could ride her horses and enjoy rural living. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Joseph; siblings, Dorothy, Melanie (Pablo), and Bill (Gretta); her three children, David (Daniela), Karen (Tim) and Mike (Kelly); eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of life will be Aug. 26, 2017, at 2 p.m., at Hampton Funeral Home, 240 S. Cortez St., in Prescott. A reception will follow at her home in Chino Valley, 3310 W. Cindy Lane. Arrangements entrusted to Hampton Funeral Home. Information provided by survivors. |
