| Mountain View Gazette (Olds, Alberta, Canada) Tuesday, March 14, 2017 Veana Kathleen Lanz (May 29, 1932-March 9, 2017) Veana Lanz passed away on March 9, 2017 in Olds at the age of 84 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Veana was born in Lethbridge, Alberta to parents Anne and David Dunlop. Veana was predeceased by her husband of 57 years Lionel Lanz; her brother Gordon Dunlop of Sherwood Park and her brother-in-law Harold Stein of Thorsby. She is survived by her four children: Patricia (Rick) Lobley of Rocky Mountain House, David (Nancy) Lanz of Olds, Stuart (Lenora Prather) Lanz of Red Deer and Carolann Lanz of Black Diamond; six grandchildren: Mark (Vanessa) Lobley, Daniel Lobley, Katryna (Adam Burke) Lanz, Keith Lanz, Bryce Lanz, Koral Lanz and great grandchildren: Thomas and Jack Lobley and Tanis and Sophie Lanz. Veana is also survived by two sisters: Marge (Ole) Ollila of Albuquerque, NM and Arlene Stein of Leduc; brother-in-law Walter (Donna) Lanz of Wickenburg, AZ; sister-in-law Ivy Dunlop of Sherwood Park and numerous nephews and nieces. Veana enjoyed a full life as a devoted mother and wife, small business owner and community volunteer. She led Brownies and Guides, was involved in the United Church, and in most recent years was part of the Civilian Committee of #185 Olds Air Cadet Squadron, a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Olds Hospital Auxiliary. She loved to knit, sew and quilt, and camp with family and her late husband at the cabin in Buck Lake. There will be no funeral service as per Veana's wishes. A private interment will be held by the family at a later date. Rocky Mountain Crematorium, Rocky Mountain House entrusted with the cremation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Veana may be made to the Olds Hospital Auxiliary. Condolences may be forwarded to www.rockyfuneralhome.ca.
