ALVIS, Charles Lennuis

Weekly Journal Miner, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, January 1, 1918, page 4, column 6 Aged Man Died From Natural Causes (From Friday's Daily) Coroner McLane, who went to the northwest corner of the county to conduct an inquest over the remains of Charles Alvis, the aged homesteader who was found dead on his ranch several days ago, reports that the deceased apparently came to his death by natural causes, no signs of violence having been found on the body. Alvis, who is 71 years of age, spent his spare time trapping and on the day of his death had taken his rifle and started out into the hills. He was later picked up in the snow by a Nephew, and the fact that a rifle had been found with him and also because no close examination was made of the body, caused the report to become current that the old gentleman had met foul play. The coroner's jury decided that the man had been a victim of heart trouble, the walk through the heavy snow having caused that organ to overwork itself with fatal results. Transcriber's note: Mr. Alvis is buried in an unmarked grave at the Citizens Cemetery in Prescott, Arizona.
