The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Sunday, September 10, 2017, page 6a-7a John R. Morrison Jr. passed away at Good Samaritan Rehabilitation Center in Prescott, Arizona on Sept. 5, 2017. He was 91 years old. He had been a resident of Las Fuentes Resort Village where he had made many good friends and was very active in the community. He was born on Oct. 15, 1925, in Riverside, Calif., to Burney and John Morrison Sr. He served in the Army Air-Corp during WWII. Commonly known as “Jack,” he loved to hike, especially Granite Mountain and Thumb Butte in Prescott. In his younger years he enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing with his family. His wife Naomi Ruth preceded him in death in 2014. They had been married 69 years. He was an avid reader and pursued family genealogy as a hobby. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prescott, Ariz. and had belonged to the Secular Franciscans. He is survived by his brother, Marvin Morrison (Pam) in Riverside, Calif.; a nephew, Mark Morrison (Tammy) of Riverside, Calif.; three children, Jackie Barry (John) of Ft. Worth, Texas, Janet Reid (Kenneth) of Tempe, Ariz. and Donna King (Darol) of Boise, Idaho; grandchildren, Chris, Danielle, Paul, Isaac, Jennifer and Autumn; as well as 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Wilfred Morrison. A Funeral Mass will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Fleury St. in Prescott. A committal service will take place at 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at the Prescott National Cemetery.
