| Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ >>> Published on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 <<< Marie Wanciak, 91, passed away at her home in Lake Havasu City on the morning of Sept. 9, 2017. She went peacefully and on her own terms. On this day, she began her journey to join those who went before her. She was a very kind and generous woman who will be dearly missed but always remembered. Marie was born on Sept. 28, 1926 in Connecticut to Peter and Johaska Superata. She married William Wanciak and they had one son, William Bruce Wanciak (Billy). Marie and her family moved to Lake Havasu in 1973, spending 44 years in the city she loved. In May 1978, she endured the heartbreak of losing her only son; a loss she never really recovered from. Marie was a devoted member of the Catholic church. She enjoyed collecting coins, shells, and rocks. She loved her escapades to Laughlin, Nevada and she was a very strong, independent woman. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her son Billy, two brothers, and five sisters. She is survived by her devoted nephew Gary Zane (Veronica), her only living sister Betty Oleszczuk, plus many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, it was Marie’s wish that donations be made to Hospice of Havasu. |
