Charles “Husky Chuck” Ruel Bordenave, 63, of Prescott Valley,
Arizona, died Feb. 2, 2016. Chuck lost his heroic fight with
pancreatic cancer with longtime friends from Orange County and Santa
Maria, California, rallying with him, by his side.

The eldest son of Oscar W. and Jean Bordenave (predeceased), Chuck
was born in Oceanside and raised in Santa Ana, California. Soon
after graduating from Saddleback High School’s second class of 1970,
Chuck joined the United States Marine Corps and, as he loved to tell
it, he became “a pilot” in the Ordnance Battalion; “following orders
meant he would pile it here and pile it there…” followed by Chuck’s
infectious laugh.

After retiring from the Marine Corps, Chuck became a proficient dirt
bike rider and developed into a leading District 37 desert racer,
riding for the Hard Nipples Racing Team on Husqvarna Motorcycles
during the late 1980s.

A Memorial Plaque will be placed in Chuck’s honor at noon on New
Year’s day, 2018, at the Husky Monument, Randsburg, California,
followed by a celebration of life at Chuck’s favorite campsite,
nearby. All are welcome.

Chuck is survived by his sister, Kathy; and two brothers, Willie and
Howard; as well as his nephews, Willie Jr. and Jason. In addition,
Chuck will be missed by many friends in both California and Arizona.

Chuck will be laid to rest at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, in the
Prescott National Cemetery, 500 Highway 89 North in Prescott,
Arizona. All are welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the DAV, 877-426-2838
(www.dav.org), a nonprofit charity providing lifelong support for
America’s Disabled Veterans.
