Duncan Lowrie King, Jr.

Duncan Lowrie King, Jr., 84, died peacefully but unexpectedly at his
home in Montpelier, Idaho.

Duncan was born on May 31, 1933 in Redding, California to Mr. and
Mrs. Duncan Lowrie King. He graduated from Bear Lake High School in
1951 and University of Utah with a degree in mining engineering in
1960.

He was married to Carol Adaline Householder in 1956. After
completing college, he began working for San Francisco Chemical
Company as a laborer then working his way to management serving as
general manager.

Over a period of nine years, the couple welcomed four children into
their home. His children remember him as an institution in their
lives, instilling hard work, dedication, true friendship, sharp
mindedness, perseverance, passion, generosity, driven, and kind
father who insisted they be their best and pursue their dreams.

Duncan was an accomplished mining operations manager serving in
community and national endeavors including Rotary club, country club
president, church elder and president of the Idaho Mining
Association. He was passionate, generous, witty and sharp-minded
individual who loved designing mines (the current Simplot was the
original San Francisco Chemical Company). He created a luxurious
cabin and retreat for his friends and family.

Duncan is survived by his four children: Laurie Schanzenbach, Tamara
King, Duncan Lowrie King, III, Maylynn Wes, seven grandchildren and
four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carol
Adeline King, his parents Duncan Lowrie King, Sr and Mary Linn
Saeltzer King, his brother Robert Saeltzer King of Golden, Colorado
and his grandparents Dr. and Mrs. Harry Howard King of Montpelier
and Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Saeltzer of Redding, California.

Duncan’s funeral service is set for 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 3, at
Community Presbyterian Church, 134 Hillside Dr., Montpelier, Idaho.
