Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ >>> Published on Sunday, October 8, 2017 <<< Michael Allen Becker, 68, passed away at La Estancia Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Phoenix, Arizona Sept. 14. Born in Tucson, Arizona, Michael was the only child of Robert and Peggy Becker. After graduating from Cupertino High School in Northern California, Michael studied art under Marshall Merritt in San Jose, California. He began painting at age 13 when his grandmother gave him a set of oil paints, canvas, an easel and brushes. He was most recognized for his outdoor scenes and received first place honors in a Hallmark Art Contest. His work was displayed in public exhibits in California and Arizona. Most memorable and detailed are his Route 66 panoramas from Missouri to California. His work was unfortunately interrupted by a stroke which left Mike with medical disabilities. He was unable to complete the series. In addition to his art, Mike also worked as a line cook at JB’s Restaurant and enjoyed walking his dog, Deogie, and spending time with his family. Michael is survived by his mother, Peggy Becker of Lake Havasu City, children Shannon Fox of Utah and David Perry, aunt Joan Miller of Prescott, grandchildren and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Becker, aunt Jane Harper and uncle Donald Becker. No services are planned per his request.
