| The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, October 3, 2017, page 7a Allen Keith Rector, 83, of Prescott Valley, Arizona, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 26, 2017, at the Northern Arizona VA Health Care Hospital in Prescott, Arizona. He was born May 4, 1934, to Ralph and Lula (Wells) Rector, in Garden City, Minn. Allen was raised and attended school in Garden City. After school, he enlisted into the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1953 to 1956. Upon leaving the Air Force, he relocated to Winfield, Illinois, and went to work in Environmental Services for the Central DePage Hospital. In 1990, he married the love of his life, Juanita, then they both relocated the same year to St. Paul, Minn., where he returned to work for the Environmental Services Department at United Hospital until he retired in 2004. Upon retiring they then decided to relocate to Prescott Valley. Allen enjoyed camping, fishing, playing his collection of Horner Harmonicas and his accordion. Both Allen and Juanita enjoyed traveling and attending Native American Pow-Wows, in the greater Southwest. Allen also became certified as an Ordained Minister in 2006. He belonged to the Minnesota American Legion Auxiliary and the Disabled American Veterans. Allen is survived by his wife, Juanita (Bowers) Rector; daughter Carol Jolly of Albert Lea, Minnesota; stepchildren Roger Leonard of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Michael Leonard of Newport, Minnesota, Michelle Leonard of St. Paul, Minnesota, James Leonard of Hudson, Wisconsin, and Timothy Leonard of Minneapolis; as well as grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Steven Rector; daughters Sonya Rector and Dorothy Olson; sister Dorothy Bartholomew; brothers Jack, Larry and Charlie Rector. A visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at 1 p.m., at the VA Chapel, 500 N. Highway 89, in Prescott, with a funeral service with military honors on Friday, Oct. 6, 2017 at 11 a.m., at Arizona Veteran Cemetery, Camp Navajo, 14317 Veterans Drive in Bellemont, Arizona. Affordable Burial & Cremation, LLC, of Prescott Valley, Arizona, handled all arrangements. |
