John (Jack) E. Salter passed away in his home in Lake Havasu City
Oct. 8, 2017.
He was born Feb. 23, 1925 in Madison, Wisconsin.
Jack was a hardworking man who loved his wife and children. In
Wisconsin, he was in a barbershop quartet and taught his daughters
how to sing harmony. He formed them into a mini-quartet and took
them to sing at PTA meetings, etc. His daughters remember waiting,
in choir robes, to sing at an Easter service. Jack would have a
pocket full of jelly beans to share with all.
Jack and Marge relocated to Lake Havasu City in 1982 once all the
kids graduated from high school. He worked as a carpenter and helped
build the Sundance Bar & Grill at Parker Dam.
Marge and Jack became members of Mount Olive Lutheran Church where
he served as the custodian for 12 years. He sang in the choir and
was active in all activities at Mount Olive. He and Marge were hired
away to become the managers of the El Aztec All Suites Inn for nine
years before retiring.
He was a loving father and made all his children feel cherished and
special. He made dear friends in Havasu, especially from church.
Gary and Sharon Powers were so helpful. He never lost his sense of
humor and always had a smile. Hospice of Havasu was wonderful,
always being there when needed.
His wife Marjorie and daughter Linda preceded him in death.
Surviving are daughters Barbara Cross, Patricia Vasquez, Marcia
Foster, and Rebecca Rogers and son James Salter.
No services are pending.
