| Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ >>> Published on Friday, October 27, 2017 <<< John Edward Wachtler, 89, passed away in Lake Havasu City Oct. 20, 2017. He was born to Edward and Flora (Tobin) Wachtler in Omaha, Nebraska on Aug. 11, 1928. John was proud to have served his country in the United States Army. He married his true love, Mary “Olga” on July 5, 1947. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family. John also enjoyed fishing, watching football, working in his yard and the occasional trip to the casino. John was blessed to be able to spend his last two months in Havasu with his daughter, Doreen, and her husband Don, enjoying the beautiful weather, lake and some fun in the pool. John is preceded in death by his wife; Mary Olga Wachtler, parents Edward and Flora Wachtler, daughter-in-law Donna Wachtler and granddaughter Jami Bender. He is survived by son David Wachtler, daughters, Diane (Dan) Weyker and Doreen (Don) Bender, sister Carol Wachtler, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Services will be a later date at Fry Memorial Chapel in Tracy, California. Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
