The Daily Current-Argus, Carlsbad, New Mexico Tuesday, November 23, 1943, page 1 Mrs. Shepherd's Rites Held Today Funeral for Mrs. C.W. Shepherd, prominent Carlsbad woman, who died Monday morning at her home, 901 North Canal Street, was held this afternoon at the West Chapel with the Rev. William S. Dando, minister of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial was in the Carlsbad Cemetery. Mrs. Shepherd, who had been ill several months, was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, on October 20, 1876. She was prominent in Carlsbad social life and was well known throughout the Pecos Valley. The family lived at Roswell 31 years and came to Carlsbad about 12 years ago when Mr. Shepherd became president of the Carlsbad Auto Company. Mrs. Shepherd is survived by her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Dean R. Wait of Carlsbad, Mrs. J.D. Hunter of Midland, Texas, and Mrs. A.E. Russ of Robstown, Texas; four grandchildren, Johnny and Charles Hunter, Mrs. David McBurnett and Staff Sgt. A.E. Russ, Jr.; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary E. Lasher of Cottonwood, Ariz., and Mrs. C.L. Fenny of Council Grove, Kas. Pallbearers at the rites were H.M. Felts, James Farrell, Joseph Wertheim, Howell Gage, E.L. Fulton and John R. Joyce.
