Miner Succumbs To Injuries At Tiger
Boulder Falls on Chas. Batterly While At Work in Stope
Telephone advices yesterday afternoon from Crown King brought the
sad news that Charles Batterly (sic) , employed in the Old Tiger
mine, had succumbed from injuries received while at work in a stope,
a few hours after the accident.
A large boulder fell on him, breaking his arms and legs, and
internally injuring him. Immediately after meeting with the
accident he was taken to Cron King for medical attention, but passed
away in a short time.
A special train was sent from this city to bring the remains for
burial, and Undertaker Poulson, from H. M. Maus & Co., was sent to
take charge of the body.
The dead miner was about 40 years of age and had been employed at
that mine for the past year. He was industrious and enjoyed a
splendid name.
No known relatives survive him.
Transcriber's note: Mr. Battersly is buried in an unmarked grave at
the Citizens Cemetery in Prescott, Arizona.
